Server Groups in Cloud7 allow you to define policies for virtual machine placement to optimize performance and availability. The available policies include:
- Affinity: Ensures that instances within the server group are placed on the same host.
- Anti-Affinity: Ensures that instances within the server group are placed on different hosts.
Navigating to Server Groups #
To manage Server Groups in Cloud7:
- Go to Providers core menu.
- Select OpenStack.
- Navigate to Compute.
- Click on Server-Group.
This will take you to the Server Groups listing page.
List Server Group #

The Server-Group listing page displays all existing server groups with the following details:
- Name: The name assigned to the server group.
- Policies: The policy applied (Affinity or Anti-Affinity).
- Actions: Available actions, including deletion.
Add Server Group #

To create a new Server Group:
- Click on the Add Server Group button.
- Enter a Name for the server group.
- Select a Policy from the drop-down menu (Affinity or Anti-Affinity).
- Click Create.
Once created, the Server Group will appear in the listing.
Delete Server Group #
To delete a Server Group:
- Navigate to the Server-Group listing page.
- Locate the Server Group you wish to remove.
- Under the Actions column, click Delete.
- Confirm the deletion.

Assign Instance to Server Group #
After creating a Server Group, you can assign instances to it during the instance creation process:
- Navigate to the Compute section and select Create Instance.
- In the configuration step, select the desired Server Group.
- Complete the instance creation process.
