The Backups feature in Cloud7 allows customers to create full or incremental backups of their Elastic Volumes for data protection and disaster recovery. Backups can be restored to new or existing volumes when needed. This guide explains how to list, create, and delete backups within the Cloud7 interface.

List Backups #

1. Login to the Cloud7 customer portal.
2. Navigate to Providers >> OpenStack >> Storage >> Backups.
3. The listing page displays all existing backups with the following details:
   • Name – The name assigned to the backup.
   • Description – Optional details provided during backup creation.
   • Container – Storage container where the backup is stored.
   • Status – The current state of the backup (e.g., Available, In Progress, or Failed).
   • Volume – The original volume from which the backup was created.
   • Snapshot – If applicable, the snapshot used for incremental backup creation.
   • Actions – Options available for managing backups.

Create Backup #

Backups are created from the Elastic Volumes section. To create a backup:

1. Navigate to Providers >> OpenStack >> Storage >> Elastic Volumes.

2. Find the volume you want to back up.

3. Click on the Actions menu next to the volume.

4. Select Create Backup to open the backup creation form.

5. Provide the following details:

   • Name – Enter a recognizable name for the backup.
   • Description (Optional) – Add notes about the backup purpose.
   • Container Name – Specify the storage container for the backup.
   • Backup Snapshot (Optional) – Select a previously created snapshot to include in the backup.
   • Incremental Backup (Checkbox) – If checked, the system will create an incremental backup, saving only changes since the last full backup.

6. Click Create to initiate the backup process. The new backup will appear in the Backups section.

Delete Backup #

1. Navigate to Providers >> OpenStack >> Storage >> Backups.
2. Locate the backup you want to delete.
3. Click the Actions menu next to the backup.
4. Select Delete and confirm the deletion.
