Subscription Models #
Cloud7 supports various subscription models, each representing a distinct method for selling different resources. Resources can be assigned and sold to resellers and customers under Pay-As-You-Go, Reservation, or Bundle models.

Each model features unique metering, billing, and charging mechanisms, as detailed below:
Pay-As-You-Go Model #
The Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) model in Cloud7 enables customers to pay for resources based on actual usage, offering flexibility and cost-efficiency. This model is well-suited for environments with variable workloads or unpredictable resource needs. It allows customers to scale resources according to current demands without fixed commitments or reservations. PAYG in Cloud7 ensures transparency in billing and provides control over expenditure by aligning costs directly with usage patterns.
PAYG Configuration

- Login as Cloud-Admin (or an associated staff-member account with required privileges) and navigate to the menu path User Management >> Service Catalogue >> Subscription Model.
- Click on the “Edit” icon to open the edit drawer.
- Enable the PAYG status if you want to offer customers products based on this selling strategy.
- In Base Rate field, select Hourly or Monthly models as base-rate.
- In the Monthly Hours field, set the total number of hours in a single month. This will be utilized by Cloud7 for rate calculation and subsequently charging the customers.
- Click on “Done” button in the footer of the edit drawer to submit and save the settings.

Reservation Model #
The Reservation model in Cloud7 allows customers to reserve and pre-pay for a specified amount of resources over a defined period. This model is advantageous for workloads that have predictable resource requirements, offering cost savings through discounted rates compared to Pay-As-You-Go pricing. By securing capacity in advance, customers ensure availability of resources when needed, optimizing resource utilization and budget planning. Cloud7’s Reservation model provides predictability in costs and allows for efficient allocation of resources to meet long-term operational needs.
Cloud7 offers flexible payment modes within the Reservation model, including:
- No Upfront: Customers commit to a reservation period without an initial payment, and costs are spread over the commitment period.
- Partial Upfront: Customers make an initial partial payment, reducing the ongoing costs throughout the commitment period.
- Full Upfront: Customers pay the total cost upfront, typically receiving the highest discount and further reducing overall expenditure.

By providing these payment options, Cloud7 caters to diverse financial strategies and operational needs, ensuring cost-efficiency and predictability in resource allocation.

- In the Monthly Hours field, set the total number of hours in a single month. This will be utilized by Cloud7 for rate calculation and subsequently charging the customers.
- In the Reservation Period field define the reservation periods that you want to offer to customers. You will have to define these periods on months basis, for instance, a 1 year and 3 years reservation period should be defined as 12 months and 36 months respectively.
- In the Action After Reservation Period Expires field, define the action to be taken by Cloud7 automatically upon the expiry of the reservation period.
- Enable or disable “Allow Resizing” of resources toggle. This will allow customers to resize their resource based.
- Enable or disable “Allow Termination” toggle. Enabling it will let customers delete and then recreate the bundle resources.
- Click on “Done” button in the footer of the edit drawer to submit and save the settings.

Bundle Model #
The Bundle model in Cloud7 provides customers with a packaged offering of resources and services at a fixed price. This model combines various components such as compute resources, storage, and additional services into a single integrated package. Bundles are designed to offer simplicity and cost-effectiveness by consolidating multiple items into a unified solution. Customers benefit from predefined configurations tailored to specific use cases, promoting ease of deployment and predictable pricing. Cloud7’s Bundle model enhances operational efficiency by streamlining resource management and simplifying procurement processes for customers.

Products #
Cloud7 provides the capability to create and manage products, which are essential for defining your resource catalog. These products can cover a wide range of resource types, including but not limited to virtual instances, images, object storage, disk storage, and network components. Each product can have unique hourly or monthly rates, allowing for flexible billing options that can be tailored to specific customer needs.

Cloud7 organizes its resource catalogue into several primary categories to streamline management and allocation. These categories include Compute, Storage, Network, and Custom products. Each category encompasses specific types of resources tailored to meet diverse customer needs.
Each product in Cloud7 can be assigned specific hourly and monthly rates, offering flexibility to accommodate diverse customer usage patterns and financial constraints. This capability allows providers to deliver competitive pricing and customizable billing options.

Every provider within Cloud7 has an associated category of products. These categories are further divided into different resource types, ensuring a clear and systematic organization of the resource catalogue. Subscription Plans #
Cloud7 provides you (Cloud-Admin) with the flexibility to enable various Subscription Models, including Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG), Reservation, and Bundle models. These subscription models form the foundation of the service catalogue, where products are categorized accordingly. However, merely adding products to the service catalogue does not automatically grant customers or resellers access to these products. Access is controlled and managed through the Subscription Plans module.

The Subscription Plans module in Cloud7 is designed to control which products and subscription models are available to customers and resellers. Within this module, there are two primary types of subscriptions based on their delivery method: Resource Plans and Image Plans.
Resource Plans #
Resource Plans are a crucial element in defining and managing customer or reseller access to various products and subscription models. Here’s how they work:
- Defining Access: You can specify which customers or resellers have access to specific products and subscription models. This allocation is done by creating Resource Plans tailored to the needs and profiles of the users.
- Subscription Model Configuration:
- Enabling PAYG: You can enable the Pay-As-You-Go model for specific customers or resellers, allowing them to pay for resources based on actual usage. This model is ideal for customers who need flexibility and do not want long-term commitments.
- Reservation Models: For customers or resellers who prefer predictable billing and guaranteed resource availability, you can enable the Reservation model. This model involves customers committing to a specific resource allocation for a set period, often with options like no upfront, partial upfront, or full upfront payments.
- Creating Bundles: You can create bundles of resources, combining various products into a single package. These bundles can then be assigned to customers or resellers, providing a predefined quota and simplifying resource management.
- Quota Enforcement: By creating Resource Plans and then assigning it to customers or resellers as subscriptions, you can enforce quotas and limits on resource usage. This ensures that customers or resellers do not exceed their allocated resources, promoting efficient usage and preventing over-consumption.
- Marketplace Publishing: Resource Subscriptions can be published on the Cloud7 marketplace, allowing customers to browse and subscribe to the resource subscriptions that meet their needs. This self-service model empowers customers to manage their resource requirements independently.

In addition to Resource Subscriptions, Image Subscriptions manage access to specific images within Cloud7. These subscriptions control which images are available to customers and resellers for their virtual instances, ensuring compatibility and compliance with organizational standards.
You can use Image Subscription Plans to offer various operating systems and software, such as firewalls, load balancers, WAFs, and databases, on the Cloud7 marketplace. Customers subscribe to these software packages, and Cloud7 orchestrates their deployment on the customer’s selected virtual instance flavors, volumes, and subnets. This ensures a seamless provisioning process for the users.

Some of the important points related to Image Plans are:
- Image Availability: You can specify which images are accessible to customers and resellers, ensuring they only use approved and compatible images for their virtual instances.
